Ben Affleck and his wife Jennifer Garner were spending some time in Las Vegas last week before flying out to begin filming for the new Batman movie. Affleck was allegedly kicked out of the Hard Rock Casino during their trip. Affleck was reportedly playing blackjack at a high rollers table, when security came up and asked him to leave. Sources say that Affleck was caught using “perfect basic”, which is a rudimentary card counting system that is used by beginners to count cards.
Repercussions of Cheating
Souces say that Affelck was not only kicked out of the casino, but may have been banned for life from Hard Rock casinos. RadarOnline also reports that casinos in the area were warned that Affleck may have been cheating on the card game. The casino did not treat Affleck poorly, however, and offered him and his wife a ride back to their hotel.
While counting cards is not illegal, the practice is not allowed at most casinos. Card counting allows players to reduce the high odds in favor of the casino, and thus makes winning blackjack much more likely for these savvy players. Affleck is a known blackjack aficionado, and walked away from the very same casino with $800,000 in winning back in 2001. Affleck has also done quite a few movies about high stakes gambling and casinos. Fans joked that Affleck was simply providing a distraction for fellow actors Matt Damon and George Clooney to clean out the vault, a nod to the Ocean’s Eleven movies.
