Samantha Lee is a stay at home mom in Malaysia that decided to go the extra mile for her picky eaters. About five years ago, she began crafting scenes made out of food to entice her then two-year-old daughter to eat. Samantha would also tell her daughter stories to go along with the scene. After seeing how excited her daughter was, Samantha began to make the food scenes a regular occurrence, doing the scenes a few times a week. She now has two daughters and blogs about her food creations, including writing posts with pictures and step by step instructions on how to replicate the artwork. She says mealtimes are a lot of fun, as her daughters get creative with different scenes that they would like to see crafted.

Lee does not limit her creations to scenes; she crafts characters from cartoons and even celebrities. Some of her celebrity files include Maya Angelou, Lady Gaga, Justin Beiber, and Nicki Minaj. Some of the shows and cartoons include The Little Mermaid, Despicable Me, and Peanuts. She also does holiday scenes and seasonal themed plates. Lee says that she did not receive any training, she simply goes with her creative impulses. She tries to keep the tools used to make the scenes very simple, and most use nothing more complicated than scissors and toothpicks. For the majority of the scenes, Lee uses some combination of rice, nori, fruits, vegetable, meat, and cheese. What a great way to handle a picky eater!
